Is It Hard to Find a House Today?

I have been in contact with several buyers over the last few weeks that have complained to me that they can’t find a house worth buying. After visiting with both couples I quickly realized that they are bargain hunting in very specific areas of town that don’t have a lot of bargains! One of the biggest misconceptions in real estate is that what you hear on the news, even local news, is how it is in every neighborhood and that is just not how real estate works; it’s neighborhood by neighborhood.

You can have a neighborhood that is loosing its value right next to one that is actually gaining in value. If you are not aware of that fact, you may thing you can waltz into the rising neighborhood and purchase a house at a bargain as if you were shopping in the adjacent neighborhood and you won’t find a house that’s worth buying at the price you are willing to pay because they aren’t there.

Believe it or not, there are neighborhoods just like that in and around the Nashville, TN area including Hendersonville, Goodlettsville and Franklin. If you are out there trying to figure it our on your own; good luck. If you are smart, you will engage a Realtor who can help you find the gems or level with you that you are looking for them in the wrong places!

Hendersonville – Business Week's Best Places in America to Raise Kids

Recently, Business Week went out to find the best places in America to raise kids. They picked the top spots in each state based on criteria that included school systems, affordable housing, and accessibility to jobs and has a friendly atmosphere. It was great to see that while Clarksville was the top pick, Hendersonville was the top runner up!

Can’t See the Forrest for the Trees?

It’s a common problem in many areas of life; we are too close to a situation and cannot see the big picture. For many of us, this closeness also keeps us from realizing that we are even that close so when anyone makes a suggestion that we may be too close, we don’t even consider it. Things go on so far until one day something out of left field comes along and we never see it coming only to think back at a later time and see it oh so clearly.

I see it all the time as a Realtor in the Nashville and Hendersonville Areas working with people who are letting their emotions guide them. While some are guided by excitement, others are guided by fear and both can have devastating consequences. When buying a house out of pure excitement it is easy to overlook the details; things like the inspection or getting a good mortgage can easily be missed and you end up with issues on the house or a bad loan. On the other hand, fear of change or commitment can keep you from moving and getting a good deal on a house that can really help your situation today and many days ahead for you and your family. Having a good Realtor in your corner can help you catch anything that might get overlooked as well as making sure you are comfortable with the house you are making an offer on.
