The neighborhood known as Hermitage is home to the estate of President Andrew Jackson. Only 30 years ago it was considered a rural area and the main attraction was the former president’s home.
There are several highly-developed networks of retail stores that include Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart plus numerous grocery and specialty stores found in this growing area. You also find those old family owned “jewels” that have been there forever just waiting for you to discover.
The houses are your typical suburban tract house and they range from starter homes to executive residences. There are many hidden pockets of great houses on beautiful lots so if suburban living is for you, you will not want to miss exploring this wonderful area.
Hermitage also offers you excellent access to I-40 and multiple accesses to Downtown Nashville as well as the North and South sides of town. Mt. Juliet sits on the east side of Hermitage and is one of the fastest growing communities around. That growth has spawned a brand new shopping complex that is very easy to get to from Hermitage. You will also be just around the corner from all the outdoor skiing and water activities on one side of Percy Priest Lake and, if you’re lucky, you will find some fantastic waterfront properties on Old Hickory Lake.
Even though the Nashville International Airport is next door in Donelson, Hermitage is known for the water and the woods, which are what I like most about this area. It’s a perfect place to raise a family and still be close to town without feeling that close. If you take the location, the access and the fact that the average price in Hermitage is right at $200,000 this may be just the neighborhood for you!
