Charitable Organizations in Nashville

Nashville is a wonderful and safe place for families to raise young children, and a supportive environment for small businesses. But did you know about all the wonderful ways we can get involved with the community?

Nashville takes the Tennessee slogan, “The Volunteer State,” very seriously. There are countless charitable organizations to belong to, all of which offer interactive ways for the community to help those in need. Second Harvest Food Bank provides wholesome meals for those in need. Hands on Nashville played an instrumental role in flood relief and clean up and continues to effect the lives of those still struggling to recover after the May 2010 flood. Other charities include Musicians on Call, which offers music to those in surrounding hospitals. Books from Birth of Middle Tennessee provide books for children through volunteer support. Vanderbilt Hospital is always looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles throughout the many fields of care they offer. If you’re looking for a way to get involved in Nashville, there are countless ways to help your community.

Children’s Miracle Network

The Children’s Miracle Network is a nationwide charity that supports children’s hospitals throughout the United States. Together, with the help of many charitable donors, they strive to improve the conditions of children’s hospitals, as well as the level of care for children in America.

Recently, ReMax teamed up with the Children’s Miracle Network to execute an 18-city tour with world-renowned 9-year old star, Ethan Bortnick. Ethan is a world famous pianist, and at only 9-years old has the confidence and charisma to outshine some of today’s biggest stars! Nashville was one of the lucky cities to participate in the concert tour and on January 20, 2011 Ethan gave a wildly entertaining show at the famous Belcourt Theater. His unbelievable talent and quick wit make his performance a delight for families of all ages. Ticket proceeds when to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. So far, more than $100 million dollars has been raised for the cause. Watch the thank you video from Ethan here, and please continue to support great charities like the Children’s Miracle Network.

Buying Foreclosed Homes

A tragic result of our troubled economy is the abundance of foreclosed homes all over the nation. Families have not been able to stay in their homes because of skyrocketing mortgage rates, and job losses. However, as the economy continues to show improvement, now may be the time to invest in a foreclosed home.

Generally speaking, homes that are being sold because of foreclosure can be purchased much cheaper than if sold for other reasons. The reason for this is because the homeowner and/or bank do not wish to hold onto the house. Because they have already lost money on it, they want to make a quick sale and move onto better investments. This loss can be your gain, and you may be able to purchase a beautiful home for much less than you would in an otherwise strong economy. Speak with your real estate agent about forecloses homes on the market, and discover your options. You may be able to get a bigger house, or a house in an otherwise expensive neighborhood that you normally may not be able to afford. The unreliable economy is scary at times, but new opportunities are always upon us.
